As some of you may have seen already if you have ventured down Bancroft is that we now have a defibrillator located outside the Salon.
We were approached by Maggie Hackney, a volunteer from AED Hitchin, who asked us if we would be able to get permission to have a defibrillator installed right outside and if we would be able to help raise the £2500 funds needed to buy all the equipment.
As many of you know here at Talents we love doing what we can to help Charities and to also better our local community, so we jumped on this chance to be able to be a part of something that will potentially save peoples lives.
The first thing we needed to do was contact our Landlord and get the permission needed for the installation to be done on the exterior of the Salon.
The next step was to get our thinking caps on and come up with ideas on how we would raise the £2500. The first thing we did was email many local business along Bancroft to see if anyone was interested in donating towards the cost. Well, we were blown away by the willingness and generosity of our neighbouring businesses. The amount we received in donations was phenomenal.
To raise the rest of the money, we hosted an afternoon tea event at The Old George in Ickleford. We sold tickets for this event and also held a raffle, which lots of our prizes were again, generously donated by many local businesses’. The afternoon turned out to be such a success, full of fun, laughter and great food.
After only a few weeks of first being approached by Maggie we had absolutely smashed our target, raising an amazing £2687.07.
We could not have done it without the support and generosity from our neighbouring businesses and our wonderful clients. For this we are truly thankful.
